
India booked a spot in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 courtesy of a commanding win over England in the second semi-final played at Guyana, Put in to bat first by England India posted a challenging total on the board led by captain Rohit Sharma who scored an attacking half-century his second on the bounce.

It was due to Rohit’s half-century that India recovered after getting off to a shaky start in the first six overs after losing the wicket of Virat Kohli and Rishabh both of whom were dismissed without making any significant contribution in an attempt to play with an attacking approach.

Rohit who stood at the other end got good support from former world number one T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav who fell just short of scoring another fifty but the duo stitched a crucial half-century partnership for the third wicket that propelled India’s score over the 100 run mark as the finishing touches were provides by the all-round trio of Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel all of who made handy contribution in the death overs to help India post an above par total of 171 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.

The Chase
Chasing a total of 172 runs England kept losing wickets at regular intervals courtesy of some accurate bowling from Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah who picked up three and two wickets respectively while it was Kuldeep who did most of the damage in the middle overs ending up with three wickets in the match as England was bowled out for 103 runs thereby giving India a thumping win by 68 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma who played a crucial role with the bat and in the field as the captain was seen crying after the win against England. The Indian captain couldn’t hold back his emotions and was seen shedding a tear in the joy of making it to the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The win must have been more special for Rohit as Englamd was the team that thrashed India by 10 wickets in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Adielede which some people think was the turning point in the way India approached T20 cricket and the change was led by Rohit Sharma in the ODI World Cup last year and has continued till now.
