Team India led by Rohit Sharma registered a comprehensive win against England to reach the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The Men In Blue beat England by 68 runs to meet South Africa in the finale of the tournament that will be played in Barbados on July 27.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma once again led front and played a captain’s knock smashing 57 of 39 balls, that included two sixes and six fours. This was Sharma’s third fifties in the tournament as he continued his charge against the bowlers.
As if his rampaging knock against Australia in the previous match, where he broke several records was not enough, Sharma, with his powerful batting display against the against the England, achieved multiple milestones.
Records Set By Rohit Sharma
The Indian opener made the record for most number of fours smashed in the history of T20 World Cup. Sharma surpassed Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene hitting his 112th boundary for India at the T20 World Cup to hold the record.
Rohit Sharma became the first India captain to hit a half-century in the semi-final of a men’s T20 World Cup. He went past former captain MS Dhoni’s 37 against Australia in T20 World Cup semi-final in 2007.

The Indian skipper registered a record of winning the most number of matches as a captain in T20 International cricket. The Indian leader has won 49 of the 61 matches he captained making him the most successful skipper in the shortest format of the game internationally. He left behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam who has won 48 matches out of 85 he played as captain.
The 37-year-old added another feather in his glorious cap by becoming the first Indian to win seven matches as a captain in a single edition of T20 World Cup. He has surpassed Dhoni’s record of winning six matches as a captain in a single edition of T20 World Cup.

With his knock against England, Sharma became the fifth Indian captain to complete 5,000 runs in international cricket. With over 19,000 runs across formats, the Indian skipper has registered 5,013 runs from 122 matches as the captain of Team India.
