Has Hardik Pandya Found His Mojo Back?

It was a different atmosphere for Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York New York, who took to the field after a poor stint in the IPL 2024. Despite nightmarish criticism and backlash for his shabby form and captaincy inabilities by experts, commentators, and cricket fans in the IPL, Pandya put up a brave face and impressed with his bowling.

Playing against Ireland in the first group clash for India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, Pandya took three wickets, giving only 27 runs in his four overs. Former Indian cricketer and cricket commentator was mighty impressed by Pandya’s performance.

”When you are playing for India it’s huge. It’s humongous. The way he was running in, what was impressive was that he bowled his four over on the trot. Not that he bowled two overs and took a break, That is a test that also had to be run. He has also come through test very, very impressively,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Pandya, who got used to booing and jeering from the crowd during IPL matches, was treated to a different atmosphere in New York where he was lauded and cheered by the spectators.

“It’s always fantastic to see the crowd supporting us, we Indians are everywhere. We rule the world. Good to have so much support, many thanks to them,” he said during the inning’s break.

A Team Player

Pandya recently became the center of attention for his personal life. Keeping aside the gossip mills and throwing his weight behind his team, Pandya showed calmness and composure on the field, a true sign of a spirited sportsperson.

“Always special to play for the country, WC is something I’ve been able to contribute”, Hardik said.
