In the IND vs ENG 2nd semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024, India defeated the England team with 68 runs. India had the answers, even if the ground was difficult and there was constant rain. Rohit Sharma’s team proved unbeatable as they advanced to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final.
In the IND vs ENG semifinal on Thursday, India might overcome England. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav put on a batting masterclass before the spinners took over and scuttled England’s pursuit.
Rohit Sharma (57, 39b, 6×4, 2×6) and Suryakumar Yadav (47, 36b, 4×4, 2×6) cleared the way for India’s victory on a challenging pitch, pushing them to 171 for seven. This was far above par, considering that batters with little bounce were put to the test by the sticky Guyana National Stadium surface.
T20 World Cup 2024: IND vs ENG Semi-final Match Highlights
Rohit and Suryakumar needed a great deal of patience and talent to succeed. To lead India into safer seas, the pair put on a vital third-wicket stand of 73 runs.
Despite the challenging circumstances, there was an objective to assault. Suryakumar used his trademark paddle scoop to carry Chris Jordan wayward into the deep fine leg stands.
Rohit Sharma used his strategy, he first read the pace correctly, stayed low for a while, and then showed the Hitman form. When leg-spinner Adil Rashid came on the attack in the seventh over, the captain neutralized his threat. To scare the spinner, Rohit welcomed Rashid with a reverse sweep and then followed it up with a reverse sweep.

India was moving forward until the rain came back, causing another delay. There was no need to lower the number of overs because there were 250 minutes in the bank to increase playing time.
Where Suryakumar and Rohit left off, so did they. Sam Curran, a left-arm seamer, gave up 19 runs in the 13th over. First blood went to Suryakumar with an inside-out scoop over point, and Rohit’s spectacular sweep gave him the second maximum.
In the next over, Rashid got the breakthrough by tricking Rohit with a googly shot that sneaked under the bat. Suryakumar was bowled by Jofra Archer with a slower ball, putting India on 124 for 4. Shivam Dube went for a duck. Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel delivered several effective hits to keep the scoreboard moving ahead.
