USA register a historic series win against Bangladesh

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss Bangladesh got off to a decent start as the new ball pair of Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled accurately.

The United States of America earned a historic series win against Bangladesh courtesy of a hard-fought win in the second T20I of the three-match series, Electing to bowl first after winning the toss Bangladesh got off to a decent start as the new ball pair of Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib didn’t let the USA openers score freely as a result the Monak Patel led side could only score 22 runs in the first four overs at a run rate 5.50 runs per over. Having said the opening duo of Steven Taylor and Monak Patel made sure that the team didn’t lose a wicket a move that paid dividends as the USA ended up scoring 42/0 in the powerplay on a wicket that had a bit of help for the bowlers.

The Start

Having started cautiously the openness started to shift gears and attacked the Bangladeshi spinners who came on to bowl after the powerplay. Taylor was the more aggressive of the two as he took experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to the cleaners by hitting him for 15 runs in his first over. Rishad Hossain who came to bowl from the other end received similar treatment but was able to fox Taylor as the batter tried to hit a six but only managed to find the fielder.

The Comeback

Andries Gous who came in to bat at number three was also outdone by a spinning delivery from Rishad and was stumped beautifully by the keeper. Having lost two quick wickets the pair of Aaron Jones and Monak Patel tried to steady the ship by adding 60 runs for the third wicket a partnership which proved to be a crucial one as the pitch got difficult to bat as the match went on which was evident by the fact that USA could only post a total of 144/6 after getting a good start.

The Chase

Chasing a total of 145 Bangladesh never really looked comfortable in the chase as the team kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and the batters were unable to form any significant partnership. The only batters who showed some resilience were captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan with scores of 36 and 30 respectively.
