Women’s Cricket: The Indian women’s cricket team brought honour to their whole country by playing exciting cricket at the Women’s T20 World Cup, which was held in Australia. Throughout the competition, the ‘Women in Blue’ were dazzling, but a lacklustre effort in the championship game prevented them from claiming victory.

India is home to some of the world’s top female cricketers. Few of their names might be mentioned among the numerous male cricket legends. Let’s analyse three of the most significant records held by Indian women in One-Day International cricket that may never be broken.

Australia Women and England Women have dominated One-Day International cricket, with New Zealand Women making frequent appearances in between, notably in global competitions.

India is the only team outside the top three to have reached two finals in Women’s ODIs, proving their potential. Due to players like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, the Indian team and its players have been able to keep the record book busy.

Indian women’s cricketers own three world records that can never be surpassed

1.     Most One-Day International Runs (Mithali Raj)

Mithali Raj has made us proud in women’s cricket, and there is no disputing that. Kumar Sangakkara is one of the finest batswomen to have ever played in female cricket history.

On June 26, 1999, she made her ODI debut against Ireland at the age of sixteen. Since then, she’s played in over 200 One-Day Internationals. With 6,888 runs scored across 209 appearances for India, the legendary batswoman is one of the all-time greats. Her career totals seven centuries and 53 half-centuries, with an average of 50.64.

She is the first woman in women’s one-day international cricket history to have scored more than 6000 runs. She still wears the blue jersey even though she no longer plays Twenty20 cricket, but only in one-day internationals.

2.     Most Wickets in One-Day International Cricket According to (Jhulan Goswami),

As far as wickets taken in one-day international cricket is concerned, an Indian lady owns the record. Over the past decade, the versatile player has been a staunch supporter of the Indian women’s national squad.

It was against England on January 6, 2002, that this 5-foot-11-inch, towering express made her one-day international debut for the “Women in Blue.” There is just one active cricket player who can catch Jhulan, Ellyse Perry, who is 70 wickets behind her.

Jhulan has a long way to go before anyone can match her extraordinary achievements, and she still has a few years to go. With more than 200 wickets in one-day internationals, she has become the first woman to achieve this feat.

3.     The largest first-wicket partnership in a one-day international (Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut)

Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut scored 320 runs in an ODI against Ireland during the Women’s Quadrangular Series in South Africa (2017), breaking a record that had stood for eleven years. While Poonam scored an impressive century, Deepti smashed 188 from just 160 balls. There were 27 fours and 2 sixes in the inning.

An impressive final score of 358/3 put India in command of the game, which they won by a hefty 249 runs. It is the third-highest individual score by a female cricketer in one-day internationals (ODIs) for Deepti Sharma. Behind her are Australian Belinda Clark (188) and New Zealander Amelia Kerr (191). (232 and 229). In the five-decade history of women’s cricket, no opening stand of 300 runs has ever been achieved. As a result, breaking Deepti Sharma’s and Poonam Raut’s record will be extremely difficult.
