India overcame Pakistan on February 15 in a crucial Cricket World Cup encounter. The Indians kept winning against their fierce opponents, bringing their World Cup head-to-head record to a favourable 6-0. But this isn’t a team’s best head-to-head record versus a single opponent in World Cup history. Even though the World Cup is just in its eleventh year, several records have already been broken. The longest winning and unbeaten streaks, the most consecutive tons, as well as dubious distinctions like the most consecutive ducks and losing streaks are all examined in the following slides.

#1 Longest winning streak Australia (25 matches)
World cricket was dominated beginning in 1999 by the strong Australian sides led by Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. The squad had a 25-game winning streak from 1999 to 2011. The streak started in the 1999 World Cup final, as Australia tied South Africa in the quarterfinal before defeating Pakistan by 8 wickets to claim the title. After winning, the Australian team absolutely dominated the international tournament for the next 10 years, winning all of their matches at the 2003 and 2007 World Cups.
The team continued its winning streak in 2011, winning their first two matches against Zimbabwe and New Zealand before Sri Lanka’s match was postponed due to rain, breaking the team’s run of 25 straight victories.
#2 Longest unbeaten streak Australia (34 matches)
Between 1999 and 2011, the Australians had a winning record of 25, as well as a 34-match unbeaten streak, winning 32 of those games (with one tie – against South Africa in 1999 and one no-result – against Sri Lanka in 2011). In 1999, the Australians lost to Pakistan and New Zealand back-to-back, raising the potential of an early exit. However, they regrouped to defeat Bangladesh, and from there, they won all of their remaining games to get to the semi-finals. A record tie with South Africa put a stop to the winning streak, but Australia still went to the title match since they finished higher than the Proteas in the Super Six.
The winning streak of 25 games began in the championship game and came to an end due to rain in the game against Sri Lanka. Following the match, Australia won two more games before their 35-game winning streak was ended by Pakistan’s four-wicket victory.
#3 Longest losing streak Zimbabwe (18 matches)
The powerful Australians were defeated by Zimbabwe by 13 runs in their World Cup debut in 1983, pulling off a significant upset. The team, however, embarked on an 18-game losing skid while they had to wait more than 9 years for their next World Cup title. The first time was in 1983 when they trailed India 17-5 until Kapil Dev‘s outstanding 175* knock turned the tide of the match. The second time came in 1992, when Andy Flower, then playing his first game, scored a century against Sri Lanka to assist his team achieve 312 points, but the Lankans easily defeated the difficult mark.
With Eddo Brandes playing a crucial role and capturing 4 wickets, Zimbabwe overcame England in a low-scoring thriller during the 1992 World Cup. Finally, the losing skid came to an end.
