We’ll concentrate on scenarios in this blog where a side scores more runs than usual without losing any wickets.

  1. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis of CSK defeated Punjab Kings 181/0 in the 2020 IPL.

Dubai hosted the 18th IPL 2020 match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Punjab chose to bat first after winning the toss. The half-century by captain KL Rahul gave them a great start. Punjab reached 178/4 in their 20 overs with the assistance of a few additional batsmen. Although it was a good target, what followed was an absolute domination. In the first few innings, both CSK players pounced on the bowlers and scored runs at will. Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis put together 181 runs in 17.4 overs to successfully chase down the goal. The game was won by CSK without any wickets being lost. Du Plessis scored 87 runs, while Watson scored 83 runs. To secure the victory for their respective teams, both openers were flawless.

  • Gujarat Lions were defeated by KKR (Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir) in the 2017 IPL with a score of 184/0.

In a 2017 IPL match between Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders, the second-highest score was recorded. KKR won the toss and decided to bowl first in the third game of the season at Rajkot. In the middle, Gujarat picked up speed, albeit gradually. Dinesh Karthik scored 47 runs off 25 balls, and captain Suresh Raina hammered an unbeaten 68* from 51 balls. Gujarat Lions achieved 183/4 in their allotted 20 overs as a result.

It appeared that KKR would have a difficult battle ahead of them because the total appeared to be one that would be impossible to defend. The KKR openers, though, had other ideas. Chris Lynn started the pursuit, which continued until the winner was located. To get all the runs without losing any wickets, Lynn and Gautam Gambhir smashed bowlers to all parts of the ground. KKR scored 184 runs in just 14.5 overs to successfully chase down the goal. Lynn used six fours and eight sixes to score 93 off just 41 balls. Gambhir had batted 76* off 48 balls and was still in the game.

  • In 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders were defeated 210/0 by Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul (LSG).

The 2022 season saw the highest opening wicket partnership. Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders squared off in the league’s 66th game. This had an exciting conclusion. LSG elected to bat first after winning the toss. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock, the two openers, both started out slowly before picking up the tempo. Rahul, the second fiddle, was Captain. De Kock, on the other hand, was at the top of his game.

The left-hander shattered the previous IPL record for the highest score by a wicketkeeper with his 140*68 runs off just 70 balls, which featured 10 fours and 10 sixes. Rahul also held on to get 68* off of 51 balls. In their 20 overs, LSG scored 210 runs. However, KKR also produced some excellent batting to achieve the goal in response. Due to some effective death bowling, they briefly had the match in hand and prevented KKR from winning.
