Get to know about the players who have scored the maximum number of hat tricks in the different IPL matches. Read to know more about the players.

The Indian Premier League has improved the T20 format of cricket. It’s not a bad thing to say that the IPL has given the shorter format a brand-new vision as the rest of the world now imitates it. The 20-over game is a fast-moving, exciting, and fun game. Fans of cricket all around the world favour this variation of the game as a result. At any time, batters are able to pursue bowling. On the other hand, bowlers have a better probability of taking a wicket.

Nevertheless, achieving a century in just 20 overs becomes more and more difficult. Even so, just a few players have thus far been prosperous. For the entire inning, bowlers are only permitted to throw 24 balls. They serve the hitters in an equally crucial capacity. In T20 cricket, several bowlers have mastered the art of throwing the ball. In this article, we’ll discuss bowlers who have taken three wickets in the IPL’s history.

India and international cricket now have multiple stars thanks to the IPL. This competition also teaches bowlers how to handle pressure situations when they are bowling. The premier league began competition in 2008. In just the first season, viewers saw its first hat-trick. During the competition, Lakshmipathy Balaji, a former Indian pacer who is currently a bowler for CSK, was the first bowler to do this. His best performance came against Kings XI Punjab, where he took 5/24 (formerly Punjab Kings). That that season, two other bowlers each recorded a hat trick. Amit Mishra of India will compete against the Deccan Chargers while Makhaya Ntini of South Africa will battle on KKR.

The first season saw three hat-trick goals, and the second season saw three more. But have you ever thought about how incredible it would be if a T20 cricket bowler scored a century? But not bowlers—all three of the hat-tricks in 2009 were completed by expert batters. Veteran left-handed Indian Yuvraj Singh and Indian captain Rohit Sharma both recorded hat tricks in 2009. Yuvraj Singh scored hat tricks against the Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rohit’s current squad, the Mumbai Indians, was defeated.

The six hat-tricks in the first two seasons were amazing, but the next three only saw one apiece. Hat-trick winners included Praveen Kumar in 2010, Amit Mishr in 2011, and Ajit Chandila in 2011.

Amit Mishra – The IPL’s “Hat Trick Man”

With three, veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra holds the record for the most IPL hat tricks. He established the record against Pune Warriors in 2013 when he scored his third IPL hat-trick. Sunil Narine was the second bowler to bowl three balls at Punjab and take three wickets. The Rajasthan Royals, who won the IPL’s debut season and finished first overall, had a strong season in 2014, especially when it came to bowling. RR had two bowlers take hat tricks in the 2014 season.

An all-arounder, Shane Watson, took three wickets against SRH, and Pravin Tambe took two against KKR. But there were no hat tricks in 2015 at all. In 2016, Punjab bowler Axar Patel recorded a hat-trick against the Gujarat Lions, with a 4/21 bowling average.

Three bowlers completed hat tricks in 2017 after doing so in 2008 and 2009. In their respective matches against Rising Pune Supergiant, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians, Andrew Tye, Jaydev Unadkat, and Samuel Badree each scored three times. Badree’s performance was exceptional, not because of his hat-trick, but rather because he bowled one of the most productive spells in IPL history. The West Indian spinner took four wickets and only gave up nine runs in four overs. The 2018 season was another one without a hat-trick. Only two bowlers in 2019 were succeeded in doing so, though. In their respective matches against the Delhi Capitals and RCB, Sam Curran and Shreyas Gopal each scored a hat-trick.

2020 marked the third season without a hat trick. The final hat-trick in the Indian Premier League, though, occurred in the 2021 campaign. And the “Purple Cap” holder for the season, Harshal Patel, was there. The Mumbai Indians were defeated by the RCB pacer with three wickets in hand. By the end of the competition, he tied for the most wickets ever with 32. Yuzvendra Chahal earned the first hat trick in IPL 2022.
