Broadcast Licences for IPL 2023–27 Were Sold at INR 44,075 Crores: Resources Speculate the Buyer

Get to know about the buyers of the broadcasting license for the IPL this season. The amount spent is huge, so the channel has to be big.

On day two of the high-stakes bidding, the media rights for the upcoming five-year cycle of the Indian Premier League exceeded the INR 40,000 Crore benchmark. INR 44,075 Crores is the correct price for the media rights to the IPL from 2023 to 2027, according to sources familiar with the situation.

On day two of the most lucrative cricket league in history, the media rights value has risen to about forty thousand crores, breaking all previous records. The IPL is currently second to the NFL in America in terms of media rights. The NFL values its media rights at INR 136 crores each game.

The most recent data shows that perhaps the Television rights (Package A) were acquired for INR 23,575 crores, or Rs 57.5 crores for every match, and the digital content (Package B) was acquired for INR 20,500 crores, or Rs 50 crore for every tournament. Both packages were for the Indian subcontinent and covered every IPL game for the following five years.

Although the IPL matches are valued at Rs 107.5 crore (TV + Digital) every tournament, the BCCI still needs to reveal the specifications of the winners of the broadcasting rights in each package.

The value of the broadcast rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) is more than twice as much as what Star paid the BCCI in 2017 – 2023, five decades previously.

Several news outlets have reported that Disney Star has acquired the Television rights and Viacom 18 has received the digital requests, even though the BCCI must formally validate the information of the winners.

The BCCI said on Monday that three would be added to the bidding process for the two extra packages (C&D). Package C covers 18 specific matchups for each IPL season, while Package D includes all TV and digital matches for the worldwide public.
