The occurrence of matches has progressively increased, partially due to an increase in the number of ODI-playing countries, and partly because cricket boards in those countries strive to maximize money from the rising popularity of cricket, a practice that dates back to the Packer Revolution. India played its 1,000th ODI match in February 2022, during their home series against the West Indies, becoming the first team to do so. In one-day internationals, Sachin Tendulkar of India has scored the most runs (18,426). With 534 ODI wickets, Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka owns the record.
