The professional Twenty20 cricket league in Australia is called the Big Bash League, which was founded by Cricket Australia in 2011. As a replacement for the Twenty20 Big Bash, which ran from 2005–2006 to 2011–2012, the Big Bash League was established.

The Big Bash League, also referred to as the KFC Big Bash League for sponsorship purposes is a professional Twenty20 cricket league for clubs in Australia that was started in 2011 by Cricket Australia the Big Bash League, which took the place of the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, features eight city-based franchises in place of the six state teams that had previously competed.

Since the competition’s inception, KFC has sponsored it with its fast-food chicken. In terms of average attendance, it ranks among the top ten domestic sports leagues, along with the Indian Premier League, as one of the two T20 cricket leagues. The Perth Scorchers defeated the Sydney Sixers and won the BBL 11 (2021/2022) championship game by a score of 79 runs.

Round-robin play in the tournament is followed by knockout rounds. In all, eight teams from six different cities make up the League. To win the first Big Bash tournament, Sydney Sixers defeated Perth Scorchers. Six of the eight teams in the League have at least one Big Bash league championship under their belts.
