Australia on Wednesday beat Scotland by seven wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in the opener at Edinburgh. Australian opener Travis Head led the carnage to rout Scotland in their own backyard.
Chasing 155 to win, the Kangaroos achieved the target inside the first 10 overs with Head slamming a blistering 80 off just 25 balls. Captain Mitchell Marsh’s quickfire 39 off 12 balls and Josh Inglis’s 13-ball 27 not out helped Australia to register a thumping win.

Australia chased down the 155-run target with 62 balls remaining. They surpassed the previous record of 43 balls, set by Romania in 2021 when they chased down 158 runs against Greece in just 12.5 overs.

Mitchell Marsh’s men set a new world record for the highest-ever powerplay score in T20Is, accumulating 113 runs off the first six overs. This remarkable feat shattered the previous record of 102 runs set by South Africa against West Indies last year.

Travis Head hammered a sensational 80 off just 25 balls. 73 of those runs came in the first six overs of the match, which is the highest score by a batter inside the powerplay in T20I cricket. He surpassed the previous record of a 25-ball 67 from Ireland’s Paul Stirling in 2020.
Most boundaries by any batter in powerplay in T20I
Head smashed 16 boundaries inside the powerplay, the most by any batter in men’s T20Is. He overtook Colin Munro’s world record of 14 against the West Indies in 2018.

The Kangaroos broke the record for the most boundaries scored by any team in T20I. The Aussies scored 24 boundaries including seventeen fours and seven sixes. The final 14 deliveries of the powerplay were all sent out of the ground by skipper Marsh and Head.
