What are the Lowest Scores in the Big Bash League History?

Every cricket team strives to score as many runs as possible in their allotted overs. The introduction of the T20 format has accelerated the rate at which runs are scored. However, in order to score more runs, some teams will go all out for a very low score. In T20 cricket, we’ve seen countless occasions where an entire team is all out for fewer than 50 runs. The BBL season began on December 13th. BBL has provided numerous amazing performances throughout the last 11 years. And in this article, we’ll look at the list of lowest BBL scores, 

  • Melbourne Renegades V/S Melbourne Stars in BBL 2015 (57* all out)

It’s the Melbourne Renegades, who previously had both the lowest BBL totals. And the lowest was against the Melbourne Stars in the 2015 season (Docklands). After winning the toss, the Renegades elected to bat first. Batting first, the Stars reached a respectable total of 169/6 in 20 overs. The Renegades, on the other hand, were a complete batting failure. Tom Cooper had the highest score of 10 runs, and none of the other hitters could match it. They were all out for 57 runs in 12.4 overs, losing the match by 112 runs.

  • Melbourne Renegades V/S Sydney Sixers in BBL 2020 (60* all out) 

The next team on the list is the Melbourne Renegades, who have the second lowest BBL total. It happened in Hobart during the 2020-21 season against the Sydney Sixers. Sydney batted first and amassed a massive total of 205/4 in 20 overs. Josh Philippe scored 95 runs off 57 balls, and Jordan Silk struck 45* off 19. Melbourne’s answer was a dismal batting performance. The entire squad was dismissed for 60 runs in 10.4 overs, and the match was lost by 145 runs.

  • Melbourne Stars V/S Sydney Sixers in BBL 2021 (61* all out) 

The Melbourne Stars had the third lowest BBL total. It happened during a game against the Sydney Sixers in the 2021 season. In the first innings, Sydney reached a large total of 213/4 in 20 overs. The leading scores were Josh Philippe (83 off 47) and skipper Moises Henriques (76* off 28). Melbourne couldn’t maintain momentum in response to a strong chase and continued losing wickets. As a result, they were all out for 61 runs in 11.1 overs, losing the match by 152 runs.

  • Adelaide Strikers V/S Melbourne Stars in BBL 2021 (68* all out) 

With the fourth lowest BBL total, the Adelaide Strikers will be next on the list. It also occurred in the 2021 season versus the Melbourne Stars. Melbourne batted first and finished with a competitive total of 179/2 in 20 overs. Andre Fletcher scored 89 points on 49 attempts. Adelaide responded by losing its first two wickets for only 8 runs. However, they then sacrificed their subsequent eight wickets for only 24 runs. They were all out for 68 runs in 14.2 overs from 2/44 and lost the match by 111 runs. 

  • Perth Scorchers V/S Melbourne Stars in BBL 2012 (69* all out) 

In 2012, the Perth Scorchers had the sixth lowest BBL aggregate in history, against the Melbourne Stars. After winning the toss, Melbourne elected to bowl first, and Perth struggled with the bat. They sacrificed their first four wickets for 16 runs before being bowled out for 69 runs in 15.2 overs. With a figure of 6/7 in four overs, Lasith Malinga did all the damage. In response, Melbourne was at 29/0 in two overs before rain interrupted play, and they were awarded the match using the D/L method.
