Lowest Innings Totals – ODI Team Records and Statistics

For a One-Day International match, what is the lowest score possible? In this article, we’ll take a look at the ODI records for the lowest team scores.

Cricket is now a batsman’s game. T20 cricket has made it difficult for bowlers to regularly perform. No score is safe anymore, even in ODIs. Teams have chased more than 300 runs many times. It’s no longer impossible to score 300 or more. However, there have been days when the batting teams have failed. It could be for several reasons. Occasionally, a bowler bowls well. The bowling team hunts like a pack. Conditions have aided them in such instances.

Batsmen struggle on seaming pitches with a lot of movement. It causes a batting collapse.

We review the five lowest ODI inning totals in this article:

Zimbabwe – 35/18

Zimbabwe has the lowest innings score in ODI history. Once again, Sri Lanka’s bowling attack decimated Zimbabwe’s batting order. Chaminda Vaas bowls another fantastic nine-over spell. His four most important victims were Brendan Taylor, Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya, and Alester Maregwede. Dilhara Fernando and Farveez Mahroof helped him out by nabbing three and two wickets, respectively.

U.S.A. – 35/12

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 saw one of the lowest scores in cricket history. S. Bhari and Sandeep Lamichhane bowled the American batting order out of the park.

The United States was bowled out for 35 runs, with all but opener X Marshall retiring in single digits. Sandeep Lamichhane took six wickets for sixteen runs in just six overs, and his performance earned him the match’s most valuable player award. Nepal responded with runs in the next 5.2 overs. The United States scored 35 runs in the lowest-scoring inning in ODI history.

Zimbabwe was beaten in 18 overs by a score of 35. D. Ebrahim was the team leader in scoring with 7 points on 10 shots. Sri Lanka batted their way to victory in just 9.2 overs.

Canada – 36/18.4

Sri Lanka demolished Canada’s batting order during their match on Match 18 of the 2003 ICC World Cup. After only 36 runs were scored in 18.4 overs, Canada was bowled out. Chaminda Vaas and R. Nissanka bowled an astonishing first 10 overs, dismissing 50 of the opposition’s batsmen. After that, it couldn’t be helped. The 36 runs scored by Canada in an ODI are only the third-lowest total in the format’s history.

 Zimbabwe – 38/15.4

Beginning the 21st century, Zimbabwe appeared to be off to a promising start. Chaminda Vaas ridiculed the batting team in the first match of the 2001 Triangular Series by taking eight wickets for only 19 runs in eight overs. After 15.4 overs, Zimbabwe lost with only 38 runs scored. Carlisle, the captain, batted for a while until being dismissed for 16 after facing 35 balls. The remaining batters all scored fewer than 10 runs. In 4.2 overs, Sri Lanka scored a run.

Sri Lanka – 43/20.1

Interestingly, Sri Lanka has the fifth-lowest inning total in ODI cricket history. Excellent bowling by the South Africans limited Sri Lanka’s scoring to just 43.

Thanks to Hashim Amla’s stunning century, South Africa scored 301 runs in 50 overs. With 112 runs off 128 balls, Hashim Amla was the top scorer for the South Africans. In addition to Jacques Kallis’s 72, AB de Villiers’s 52 was a big help. In reply, South African bowlers bowled Sri Lanka out for 43 runs. Morne Morkel’s opening spell was outstanding.

Both Upul Tharanga and Kumar Sangakkara were out in one ball from him. After that, Sri Lanka’s wickets went down quickly, and the team was dismissed in 20 overs. Kulasekara managed to put up 19 points on only 46 shots. There were three wickets for Lonwabo Tsotsobe in six overs, and four for Morne Morkel in the same time frame.
