Big Bash League: Final Rounds and the List of Finalists

The Big Bash League, as it is known to the world, is an Australian T20 league that was inaugurated back in 2011. The league is said to gather an immense fan following over the years. However, the upcoming BBL is scheduled to take place in the month of December 2022. Based on previous records, six out of the eight teams have successfully achieved the BBL titles before. Therefore, it will be interesting to know which teams qualify for the final rounds and lift the trophy at the end. Check out the list of finalists and winners of each season:  

• Final Match of BBL (2011-12)

The inaugural season of Big Bash League is said to take place on 28 January 2012. However, the competition was held between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. According to reports, Perth Scorcher chose to bat first and made 156 runs, but Sydney Sixers managed to chase the target and won the match by seven wickets.

• Final Match of BBL (2012-13)

According to reports, the final match of this season was held on 19 January 2013. The competition, however, took place between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers. Brisbane Heat batted first and successfully registered 167 runs to their names, but Perth Scorchers could not chase the target.

• Final Match of BBL (2013-14)

In the final match of the third season, the Hobart Hurricanes are said to compete against the Perth Scorchers. Perth Scorchers batted first and were successful enough in making 191 runs, but Hobart Hurricanes somehow failed to chase the target.

• Final Match of BBL (2014-15)

The final match of the fourth season took place on 28 January 2015. However, team Sydney Sixers chose to bat first, thereby scoring 147 runs, while Perth Scorchers chased the target and successfully achieved the title by four wickets. 

• Final Match of BBL (2015-16)

As per reports, the final match of the 2015-16 season took place between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder. And the Sydney Thunder successfully defeated their opposition. Moreover, it was the first BBL title for team Sydney Thunder. The competition was held on January 24, 2016, at Melbourne.

• Final Match of BBL (2016-17)

The final match of the sixth season took place on 28 January 2017 at Perth. And the competition was held between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. As per reports, Sydney Sixers opted for batting first and made 141 runs, while Perth Scorchers managed to chase the target and achieve the title by nine wickets with 25 balls left.

• Final Match of BBL (2017-18)

The Adelaide Strikers managed to achieve the BBL title of this season, this was also their first Big Bash League title. The match, however, took place on 4 February 2018 between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes.

• Final Match of BBL (2018-19)

The final competition of this season took place between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades. However, the match was held on 17 February 2019 at Melbourne. And Melbourne Renegades managed to win the BBL title of this season.

• Final Match of BBL (2019-20)

The ninth season’s final match was played between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars. Moreover, the final competition took place on 8 February 2020 in Sydney. And Sydney Sixers chose to bat first and scored 116 runs, but the Melbourne Stars couldn’t chase the target, and therefore Sixers successfully won the match by 19 runs.

• Final Match of BBL (2020-21)

The final competition of this season took place on 6 February 2021. The competition, however, was held between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. However, Sydney Sixers opted for batting first and successfully registered 188 runs to their names. And the opposition (Perth Scorchers) somehow failed to chase the target. 

• Final Match of BBL (2021-22)

The final match of BBL 2021-22 was held on 28 January 2022 at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne. The match, however, took place between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. And Perth Scorchers successfully defeated the Sydney Sixers in the last season.

Based on past history, team Perth Scorchers have reached most of the final rounds (6). They are, however, being followed by Sydney Sixers (5). Thus, following the previous records, cricket fans and supporters will be excited to know if the teams can make it to the finals this time.
