In all the three formats of International Cricket, T20 has proved to be the most exciting. It has seen some of the most exceptional records and scores. Following his century at Mount Maunganui, Suryakumar Yadav increased his run in 2022 to 1,151 runs at a strike rate of 188 in T20Is. Mohammad Rizwan still holds the world record with 1,326 runs in 2021, although Rizwan had already scored 135 and faced 372 more balls. Virat Kohli, a former captain, is the most recent Indian cricketer to record a century in a T20 match. Indian cricket’s highest individual T20I score was achieved by the daring batsman against Afghanistan in an Asia Cup 2022 Super Four match in Dubai.

Indians have recorded the most T20I centuries of any country with up to 10 individual centuries. Here are the seven Indians who have achieved a century in T20I matches.

But how does this peak compare to the other outstanding runs in Twenty20 cricket history?

The peak can be a broad term. It is also unfair to gauge peak performance solely based on international cricket given the franchise-dependent nature of the format. Numerous T20 greats were roving cricketers who participated in franchise-run competitions much more frequently than T20 Internationals. In his 463-match Twenty20 career, Chris Gayle, for instance, has only appeared 79 times for the West Indies. For South Africa in T20Is, AB de Villiers, an undisputed titan of the format, averaged just 26.

The second T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand was played on Sunday in Mount Maunganui, and Suryakumar Yadav continued his strong run of form by smashing the second century of his T20I career.
