The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 3 and will conclude with the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on the 20th.
The ongoing edition is the ninth Women’s T20 World Cup since the tournament was initiated in 2009. Records are being made and broken in this edition as cricketers are giving their all while representing their nations.
Australia’s Megan Schutt became the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cups during a group match against New Zealand.

Megan Schutt (Australia) – 46 wickets
Megan Schutt has the most wickets in the history of women’s Twenty20 world cups. He has 46 wickets to her name from the three editions of the T20 world cup she has featured in- 2018, 2020, 2023 and the ongoing 2024 campaign.
In all, Megan Schutt has appeared in 115 matches so far in her T20I career and taken a total of 143 wickets at an average of 17.16 and an economy of 6.31. Her wicket tally is set to increase as she is having a good campaign in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup.
2. Shabnim Ismail (South Africa) – 43 wickets
Shabnim Ismail is the second bowler with highest number of wickets in T20 World Cup history. She has 43 wickets. She has played in every edition of the tournament since its inception in 2009. She has featured in the T20 World Cup on eight occasions in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2023.
In her T20 International career, the Proteas featured in 113 matches and took 123 wickets at an average of 18.62 average and an economy of 5.77.
3. Anya Shrubsole (England) – 41 wickets
Anya Shrubsole, the right-arm medium pace bowler played for England between 2008 and 2022. She featured in the 2013 edition of the tournament in India taking 13 wickets at an average of 7.23. She also took part in the 2017 and 2020 editions. She took a total of 41 wickets in her World Cup campaigns in the T20 format.
Shrubsole played a total of 79 T20 International matches taking 102 wickets at an average of 15.55 and an economy of 5.95.
4. Ellyse Perry (Australia) – 40 wickets
Ellyse Perry is a six-time World Cup winner in the shortest format having won the tournament in the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2023 editions. She has taken 40 scalps to become one of the bowlers with most wickets in the history of the Twenty20 World Cup.
She featured in 159 matches in her T20 International career and took 126 wickets at 18.78 average at an economy of 5.83.

5. Stafanie Taylor (West Indies) – 33 wickets
Stafanie Taylor is playing in her 9th edition of the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup, featuring in all the seasons since the inception of the tournament. He took 33 wickets in her T20 World Cup campaign.
She has played in 123 T20 International matches, taking 98 wickets with an average of 16.72 and economy of 5.66.
