This win is for the fans as much as the players. I’ve given this team my youth, my prime, and my experience. I attempted to win it every year, I put in everything, I was never convinced this day would come, I was utterly lost for words and emotionally shocked after we won.

Kohli’s heartfelt confession adds a somber tone to the night, reinforcing the bond between the individual player, the team, and its most passionate fans.

Kohli’s Tribute to AB de Villiers

Kohli also honoured his former teammate and longstanding RCB player AB de Villiers, who had retired in 2021, but still has a strong affiliation, the franchise’s personality remained:

“What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous, told him ‘this is as much yours as it is ours.’ He’s been the Player of the Match most times in the franchise, despite being retired for four years. He deserves to be on the podium, lifting the cup,” Kohli added.

The gesture highlighted the legacy created by RCB’s franchise core players and the emotional significance of this much-needed victory.
