Cricket fans around the world were in for a treat as the Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli recreated his iconic six from Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) during the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Afghanistan in Barbados on Thursday.
The Indian cricket team locked horns with Afghanistan in their first Super 8 game in Barbados and the fans got to witness a glimpse of Virat Kohli’s comeback to form. The superstar batter has not been in great touch in the ongoing t20 World Cup 2024 as he has been struggling to score runs, however, he has recreated his famous six to leave fans thrilled.
Virat Kohli Recreates Iconic MCG Six Against Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq
Talking about that shot, it came during the fifth over of the Indian innings. Virat Kohli capitalized on a short and wide delivery from Naveen-ul-Haq and slammed the ball straight down the ground for a massive six.
The shot reminded fans of Kohli’s six against Haris Rauf in the high-tension India v Pakistan match in MCG in the last T20 World Cup. During the IND vs PAK match in the T20 World Cup 2022, Kohli slammed Rauf for a mammoth six straight down the ground before he guided his team to a win with an unbeaten knock of 82 runs off 53 deliveries.
Following this shot, ICC via their official Instagram handle shared a video of Virat Kohli along with the words of Harsha Bhogle that he said when the Indian batter had hit Rauf for a straight six when the Indian cricket team needed 28 runs from 8 balls. The caption read:
“Kohli goes down the ground, Kohli goes out of the ground 😮💨”

While Kohli showed glimpses of his return, he failed to make it big as he was dismissed after scoring 24-ball 24 runs. He smashed only 1 boundary and that six, which gave fans a hit of nostalgia.
