There is big news for Indian cricket fans. Reports say that Virat Kohli is thinking about retiring from Test cricket. He has told the BCCI (Indian cricket board) about it, but the board has asked him to think again.
This news came just after Rohit Sharma said he is retiring from Test matches on May 7. If both players stop playing Tests, it will be a big change for Team India.
Why Does Virat Kohli Want to Retire?

Kohli is not doing well in Test matches lately:
- He scored only 3 centuries in 39 Tests since 2020
- His average is less than 23 in his last 10 games
- India lost two big Test series – 0-3 vs New Zealand and 1-3 vs Australia
All this may be the reason why Kohli wants to stop playing Tests.
Big England Tour Coming – Will He Play?
This is a very important time. India has a Test series against England, starting June 20 in Leeds. The Indian team will be announced soon.
The BCCI hopes that Kohli will stay and play in this big series.
Kohli Is Playing Great in IPL 2025

Even though Kohli is not doing well in Tests, he is playing very well in IPL 2025. Here’s how he is doing:
- Scored 505 runs in 11 matches
- His average is 63.12
- Strike rate is 143.46
- Scored five half-centuries in six away matches
Kohli’s great form has helped his team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win 8 out of 11 matches. They are in second place on the points table. RCB also won all 6 away matches this season.
RCB is now led by Rajat Patidar, and the team is playing really well. The IPL has been paused for one week from May 9, but fans are excited for the rest of the season.
