Opener Faiz Fazal, celebrated as the two-time Ranji Trophy-winning captain of Vidarbha, has declared his retirement from professional cricket following his team’s match against Haryana in the prestigious first-class tournament. During this farewell appearance, he received a respectful guard of honour from all players present on the field.
Faiz Fazal, who led Vidarbha to their maiden Ranji Trophy victory in the 2017-18 season and repeated the feat the following year, was a prolific run-scorer for his team in both campaigns. His international cricket debut for India occurred in the third ODI against Zimbabwe in 2016, where he played a crucial role with an unbeaten 55 in a ten-wicket victory, marking his sole appearance for the national team.
“Tomorrow signifies the culmination of an era as I step onto the Nagpur ground for the final time, where my illustrious first-class cricket journey commenced 21 remarkable years ago. It has been an unforgettable ride, brimming with cherished memories that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
