Praveen Kumar Shares Insight on Legends League Cricket Intensity

Praveen Kumar, former cricketer, shares his perspective on the recent Gambhir-Sreesanth clash in the Legends League Cricket.

Former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar has weighed in on the recent on-field clash between Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth during an Eliminator match in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023, urging fans and social media to avoid blowing the incident out of proportion.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, Praveen Kumar, who represented India in 68 ODIs and six Tests, emphasized that such altercations are a natural part of the game and should be kept within the boundaries of the field without unnecessary sensationalization on social media.

“These are part and parcels of the game, there is no need for creating hype around these types of incidents. This should remain on the ground only and shouldn’t be carried beyond that. People have made a fuss for no reason on social media but if you see both (Gambhir and Sreesanth) of them will forget it after a few days,” Praveen Kumar stated.

He highlighted that conflicts often get resolved once players step outside the field, emphasizing the absence of any real animosity. “There is no enmity, bullets haven’t been fired either. Social media shouldn’t hype this,” he added.

Following the heated exchange, Sreesanth posted videos accusing Gambhir of misconduct, and Gambhir responded with a cryptic tweet. In response, Legends League Cricket (LLC) announced an internal investigation into the code of conduct violation during the incident.

Praveen Kumar, who plays for Manipal Tigers, expressed his views on the level of competition in LLC, stating that it is comparable to international cricket. He stressed the importance of practice and net sessions for players before entering the competitive arena.

“There is no difference in the level of competition (in LLC), same bowling, same batting, and even more runs are being scored here in an innings compared to the international level. Yes, the age factor comes into the picture, but the players are the same and so is their game. It requires practice, and we do practice before our game here,” Praveen Kumar mentioned following the Manipal Tigers’ victorious encounter against India Capitals.
