An intense exchange unfolded between former Indian bowler S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir during the Legends League Cricket 2023 Eliminator at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Wednesday. After the Capitals secured a 12-run victory, Sreesanth accused Gambhir of provoking him needlessly, expressing deep offense at Gambhir’s remarks.
Addressing the incident, Sreesanth stated, “Just wanted to clear some air on what happened with Mr. Fighter, who always fights with all his colleagues for no reason whatsoever. He doesn’t even respect his own senior players, including Viru bhai and a lot of people.”
Sreesanth vehemently denied any fault on his part and emphasized that Gambhir’s words and actions on the cricket field were unacceptable. Taking the issue to social media, Sreesanth accused Gambhir of using offensive language, including the ‘F’ word, and even calling him a ‘fixer,’ referencing the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal.

“He kept on calling me on live television, on the center pitch… I did not use a single bad word. I kept on saying ‘What are you saying? What are you saying?’ In fact, I kept laughing in a sarcastic way because he kept calling me ‘fixer, fixer.’ Forgive my language, but he said ‘F*** off fixer.’ This is the language he used on live TV,” revealed Sreesanth.
Following India Capitals’ decision to bat first against Gujarat Giants, the disagreement escalated during Gambhir’s batting spell, leading to umpire intervention to maintain civility.
On Thursday morning, Gambhir responded to the incident with an enigmatic note on social media, possibly downplaying the heated exchange. “Smile when the world is all about attention,” Gambhir said on the X social media platform.
