Mahela Jayawardene Appointed Head Coach Of Mumbai Indians For IPL 2025

Ahead of the start of IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians franchise has taken a big decision and once again appointed Mahela Jayawardene as the head coach of their IPL team. Now he is all set to replace Mark Voucher from the next season, who was made the head coach of the team in 2023. Apart from Jayawardene, former Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has also got a big responsibility.

Let us tell you that Jayawardene has played the role of head coach of Mumbai Indians from 2017 to 2022. However, in the 2023 season, he was made the Director of Cricket of all the teams under the Mumbai Indians franchise and former South Africa legend Marg Voucher was appointed as the head coach of Mumbai Indians. Under the guidance of Voucher, Mumbai Indians made it to the playoffs in 2023 but finished last last season.

Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene described his return to Mumbai Indians as a head coach as an exciting challenge. Apart from this, he said in a statement that, the kind of performance the team had done in his previous tenure, it is an opportunity for him to contribute to the same kind of history.

Jayawardene said in a statement:

My journey within the MI family has always been one of growth. In 2017, our focus was on bringing together a group of talented individuals to play the best cricket ever and we did very well. Now returning to that very moment in history, where we are looking forward to the future.

 

Also, it is an opportunity to further strengthen the love for MI, build the team on the vision of the owners and continue to contribute to the history of Mumbai Indians, it is an exciting challenge that I am eagerly looking forward to in.

 

It is worth noting that, from 2017 to 2022, Mumbai Indians won three titles under the guidance of Mahela Jayawardene as head coach. During this, the team defeated Rising Pune Supergiants in the final of IPL 2017 and Chennai Super Kings by 1-1 runs in the final of 2019. Apart from this, he defeated Delhi Capitals in the 2020 final in the UAE.

Paras Mhambrey gets the responsibility of bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025

 

Mumbai Indians have appointed former Indian spinner Paras Mhambrey as the bowling coach of their team for IPL 2025. Let us tell you that, just before this, Mahambre served as bowling coach in the coaching group of the Indian team led by Rahul Dravid.
