Last-Minute Change: Washington Sundar Replaces Axar Patel in India’s Asia Cup Final Squad

India makes a crucial switch before the Asia Cup Final as Washington Sundar steps in for the injured Axar Patel.

India has made a sudden alteration to their Asia Cup final squad just before the upcoming final match against Sri Lanka on Sunday, September 17. Washington Sundar has been called in to replace Axar Patel, who sustained a left quadriceps strain during India’s Super Four game against Bangladesh on September 15. Despite Axar Patel’s valiant efforts during that game, India has decided to bring in Washington Sundar for the crucial final.

Axar Patel’s replacement, Washington Sundar, has an impressive track record with 16 wickets in as many ODIs, averaging 27.18 and maintaining an economy rate close to five. He has also shown his batting prowess, scoring 233 runs in nine innings, including a half-century against New Zealand. After the Asia Cup final, Sundar is expected to join India’s Asian Games squad.
