
IPL 2025: KL Rahul breaks David Warner’s record, becomes fastest to score 5000 runs in IPL
As the Indian Premier League 2025 moves forward, new records are being made. This time, it is KL Rahul who has added his name to the list of batters who have scored 5000 runs in the IPL. Not only did he cross this milestone, but he also became the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in the tournament.
Playing for the Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul hit a brilliant half-century against the Lucknow Super Giants. On Tuesday, April 22, he scored an unbeaten 57 runs and helped his team win the match. During this innings, he completed 5000 IPL runs.
David Warner’s record broken
KL Rahul reached this milestone in just 130 innings. Before him, the record was held by David Warner, who had taken 135 innings to reach 5000 runs. Virat Kohli is in third place, who took 157 innings to reach the same. Kohli still holds the record for the most runs in IPL history.
Big win for Delhi Capitals

In the match played in Lucknow, DC won the toss and chose to bowl first. LSG scored 159 runs in their 20 overs. Aiden Markram made 52 and Mitchell Marsh scored 45. Later, Ayush Badoni added 36 runs from 21 balls.
DC started well with Abishek Porel scoring 51 runs. After that, KL Rahul and captain Axar Patel took the innings forward. Rahul stayed not out at 57 and Axar scored an unbeaten 34 to help the team win by eight wickets. This was Delhi Capitals’ sixth win in IPL 2025.
