On July 21, 2024, in R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the Jaffna Kings became the 4th time LPL champions with the help of clinical innings by their top order batsman – Rilee Rossouw and Kushal Mendis. They won the match with 9 wickets and 26 balls left in the bank.

Jaffna Kings had a very bizarre start to the innings, losing its first wicket of Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of their innings bowled by Dwaine Pretorius. Chasing a substantial total of 185 runs against Galle Marvells was a big task, and there entered Rilee Rossouw. Both batsmen smashed 63 runs in the powerplay. And continued this dominant display in the later overs. Rille smashed 7 sixes and 9 fours in his innings, whereas Kushal hit 2 sixes and 8 fours.
Galle Marvell’s comeback to set a total of 184 in the LPL Final
In 7 overs, the Galle Marvells score was 24 off 3 down, and Rajapaksa and Arachchige were present on the crease. Then started Rajapaksa’s monstrous hitting, where he smashed 82 runs off just 34 balls, dominating the spinners of Jaffan Kings and pacers as well.
Tim Seifert came in action, smashing 3 maximums and one boundary for Vijayakanth. Bowled out by Asitha, Tim Seifert went back to the pavilion, but Rajapaksa did not let them celebrate this. From 24 in 7 overs to 172 in the 19th over, a total of 148 runs on just 72 balls is crazily impressive.

Soon Rajapaksa was dismissed by a yorker delivery of Asitha, but Galle stood strong in front of Jaffan Kings to put up a great total for the finals. Eventually, the top order dominated snatched the finals from Galle’s hands, and became the 4th time champion.
Rilee Rossouw Won The Man of the Match Award
At the end of tournament final, the Man of the Match award was given to Rilee Rossouw (106 not off 53 balls for Jaffna Kings), Man of the Series to Rilee Rossouw (389 runs for Jaffna Kings), Pink Cap for Most Runs went to Tim Seifert (400 runs for Galle Marvels), Red Cap for Most Wickets: Shadab Khan (17 wickets for Colombo Strikers) and lastly Emerging Player of the LPL 2024 season went to Chamindu Wickramasinghe.
