The contract of the current Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid, will end after the T20 World Cup is held this year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already approached many former players for the post of head coach of the cricket team in India, many of whom are from India and some are foreign players who are currently coaching teams in franchise cricket.

The former Australian captain and three-time ODI World Cup winner, currently head coach of the Delhi Capitals, is the main contender for becoming head coach of Team India. He has a lot of experience, both as a player and as a coach. Apart from being the head coach of the Mumbai Indians from 2014 to 2016, he has also been the head coach of the Delhi Capitals since 2018. It remains to be seen whether he becomes the new coach of Team India or not.

  • Justin Langer

The former Australian cricket player and coach, Justin Langer, shows potential for the position. His abilities in this role are shown by his outstanding coaching career with the Australian men’s team from 2018 to 2022. After the Sandpaper incident, Langer managed the team’s comeback and guided them to their first T20 World Cup victory in 2021. He was highly praised for his man-management abilities and for creating a winning culture. As the head coach of LSG in the IPL right now, Langer has shown his versatility and ability to develop young players.

Former Indian cricketer and head of the NCA (National Cricket Academy), VVS Laxman, is also a contender to become the coach of Team India. Laxman has coaching experience before this too. While being the coach of Team India in the Asian Games, he played an important role in helping India win gold.

  • Gautam Gambhir

A former cricketer for Team India and head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir, is also included in this list. He played an important role in winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. He has also coached the Lucknow Super Giants. He has full experience in coaching as well as captaincy. He has spoken about becoming the coach of Team India many times. Now it all depends on BCCI whether they give him a chance or not.

  • Stephen Fleming

Stephen Fleming is a well-known figure in the world of cricket, both as a former player and a current coach. In the IPL league that started in 2008, Chennai has won the trophy 5 times under him since becoming the head of the Chennai Super Kings. This time his name is coming to the fore that he can become the new head coach of India, although Chennai has rejected this. Now BCCI is deciding who will be the head coach of India. he previously served as the coach of the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League from 2015 to 2019.
