ICC Men’s Test Rankings: On Wednesday, India’s sensational keeper-batter Rishabh Pant re-entered the ICC rankings at an impressive sixth position, all thanks to his stunning century in his Test comeback.
Rishabh Pant re-enters top 10 ICC Men’s Test Rankings, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli slip
Rishabh Pant, who made a comeback in the longest format of the game impressed one and all as he registered a stunning hundred in the opening game of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai, has moved to the sixth position.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moved to the fifth position, riding on his half-century in the first innings of the Test match.
Though, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma has managed to retain his place in the top 10 ICC Men’s Test Rankings, however, he has moved down five places after two underwhelming performances. He has 716 rating points.
Talking about the batting maestro, Virat Kohli, the former captain has dropped five spots to go out of the top-10 and he is now placed 12th in the standings.
Major Changes In The Bowling Department Of ICC Men’s Test Rankings
It has to be noted that the Sri Lanka-New Zealand Test in Galle has brought about major changes in the ICC Test Men’s Rankings in bowling, with Prabath Jayasuriya solidifying his reputation as one of the best spinners in the game, moving five spots into eighth after a nine-wicket haul.
Jayasuriya, with the ranking points of 743, is the highest-ranked player representing Sri Lanka across the three formats of the game, moving past Asitha Fernando, who slid down two spots to 13th (700).
Kamindu Mendis rose to 16th in the batting rankings, while Dhananjaya de Silva climbed to 18th in the All-Rounder Rankings after their recent victory.
In the ODI rankings, Afghan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Australia’s Travis Head entered the top 10, with Gurbaz moving to eighth after scoring his seventh century before turning 23, making him the first Afghan batter in the top 10.
Head surged to ninth thanks to a 154 not out against England. Additionally, Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan moved to third in the ODI Bowling Rankings after taking seven wickets against South Africa, contributing to Afghanistan’s first ODI series win over a top five-ranked team.
