Defending champions, Australia, aim to maintain their dominance and extend their record to seven championships. Meanwhile, India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, is gearing up with hopes of clinching their first-ever title after finishing as runners-up in 2020.

How Each Team Qualified
Bangladesh: As the original hosts of the tournament, Bangladesh automatically qualified. Even though the venue was later moved to the UAE, their spot remained secure.
Australia: The reigning champions had an unbeatable run in the 2023 tournament, winning every match and securing automatic qualification.
South Africa: Last year’s runners-up are eager to improve upon their impressive performance and go all the way this time.
England: The winners of the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup in 2009, England qualified by reaching the semi-finals in 2023. They were knocked out by South Africa at that stage.
India: India earned their place in the 2024 tournament after reaching the semi-finals in 2023, where they narrowly lost to the eventual champions, Australia.
West Indies: Finishing third in Group 2, West Indies secured their spot after defeating Ireland and Pakistan in the group stage.
New Zealand: Similar to the West Indies, New Zealand finished third in their group, securing two wins against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to claim their qualification.
Pakistan: Although Pakistan has never reached the semi-finals, they qualified as the next highest-ranked team in the ICC rankings as of February 2023.
The Final Qualifiers
Two teams earned their places through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in May 2023.
Sri Lanka: Despite finishing fourth in their World Cup group last year, Sri Lanka rebounded strongly with a perfect record in the Group A qualifiers, securing their spot.
Scotland: Scotland had a tougher road to the tournament, starting with the European Qualifiers, where they faced the Netherlands, Italy, and France. After finishing second behind Sri Lanka in the global qualifier, Scotland won 5 of their 6 games to make their debut in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
