IND vs NZ: On the second day of the Test match being played between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru, when the weather cleared and the game started, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. However, this decision never proved to be right.
IND vs NZ, India’s batting collapse
In the favorable conditions, New Zealand’s fast bowlers did not allow any Indian batsman to stay at the crease and the entire team was all out for a score of 46. This is India’s lowest score at home and third lowest overall. Five Indian batsmen were out for zero, which is again a record.

This was the condition of India due to New Zealand’s fast bowling trio, who constantly troubled the Indian batsmen with their wavy balls in almost home-like conditions under the clouds. Tim Southee, who recently stepped down from captaincy, clean-bowled Indian captain Rohit Sharma with an incoming ball. After this, New Zealand’s young fast bowlers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke took over.

There was a competition between the two to take as many wickets as possible and in the end, Henry won the match, while O’Rourke returned to the pavilion with four wickets. Both the fast bowlers troubled the Indian batsmen with their out-going length balls and most of the batsmen were caught behind the wicket. From India, only Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) were able to reach double figures.
IND vs NZ, New Zealand’s explosive opener
At the same time, when the New Zealand team came to bat, the sun had spread all around the field and batting had become easy. The New Zealand batsmen took full advantage of this and were seen scoring runs without any difficulty. Devon Conway was quite aggressive and played an innings of 91 runs in 105 balls with 11 fours and three sixes. He was unfortunate to not be able to complete his hundred and was clean bowled while trying to reverse sweep a delivery from R Ashwin on the line of the stumps.

While the Kiwi pacers dominated the Indian innings, the Indian pacers did not get a single wicket. However, the Indian spin trio shared a wicket each. New Zealand has a lead of 134 runs at stumps on the second day and would be looking to extend it further on the third day.
