The Australian team was undefeated in the group stage and reached the semi-finals by winning all its matches. On paper, Australia’s side was considered to be very heavy because out of the seven T20 World Cups before this, Australia had won the title six times and lost once in the final.
This victory is very important for South Africa. South Africa had never defeated Australia in the World Cup in this format before. With this, Australia’s streak of 15 consecutive wins in the T20 World Cup ended and its dream of entering the final for the eighth time was shattered. Wolvoort-Bosch’s brilliant partnership in SA vs AUS
While chasing the target in SA vs AUS semi-finals, Annabel Sutherland gave South Africa an early blow by bowling Tanjim Bitz. Britz was dismissed after scoring 15 runs. After this, Bosch and Wolvoort took charge and added 96 runs for the second wicket. This is the biggest partnership for any wicket by South Africa against Australia in T20.
Sutherland, however, did not let Wolvoort score a half-century and got her out by getting caught by Tahlia McGrath. Wolvoort was dismissed after scoring 42 runs off 37 balls with the help of three fours and a six. However, Bosch continued her innings and led the team to victory. Bosch returned unbeaten on 74 off 48 balls with the help of eight fours and a six and Chole Tyrone returned unbeaten on one run.
This score of Bosch is the highest individual score of any player in this World Cup so far.
