Six Sri Lankan players have received new career-high ratings on the latest ICC Test Rankings, following their exceptional win against the England cricket team at The Oval.
The Sri Lankan cricket team made an exceptional effort to register their first test win against the England cricket team away from home in the third test of their recently completed series.
Captain Dhananjaya de Silva, middle-order performer Kamindu Mendis, and opener Pathum Nissanka led the way with the bat for their team against the mighty England bowlers.
All thanks to their stunning performances, the Sri Lankan cricketers have witnessed a significant improvement in their ICC Test Rankings.
Dhananjaya de Silva rises to 13th in Test Rankings (Batters)
Bangladesh captain, Dhananjaya de Silva has achieved a career-high rating, moving up to 13th place in the Test batting rankings after his impressive knock of 69 runs in the first innings. Dhananjaya’s 69 was laced with 11 fours. He consumed 111 balls. He hit his 17th fifty in Tests.
His stunning performance against the England cricket team helped the right-hander obtain a new career-best rating and gain three places. He is now the leading player on the list from his team with 699 rating points under his belt.
Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis make significant leap
Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka have also achieved career-best ratings. While Mendis climbed to the 19th after smashing a notable half-century, on the other hand, Pathum Nissanka made a remarkable jump to the 39th position, following his knocks of 64 and 127*.
Sri Lankan bowlers shine in latest ICC Test Rankings
Three Sri Lankan bowlers have achieved career-best ratings in the latest ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers. Vishwa Fernando is leading the pack by jumping 13 spots to equal 31st after picking five match wickets during the 3rd Test against England.
Lahiru Kumara, who took a four-fer in the 2nd innings, has jumped 10 positions to reach a 32nd rating. Milan Rathnayake has also made impressive improvement, moving to 84th place.
