After preventing a series sweep with a convincing five-wicket win against England in the final T20I, India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, expressed optimism about the team’s continuous improvement through more match experience.

At the Wankhede Stadium, Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque’s impressive three-wicket hauls, along with Renuka Singh Thakur’s early breakthroughs, restricted England to a modest 126. In response, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues formed a crucial 57-run partnership, while Amanjot Kaur’s late cameo secured India’s victory with an over to spare.

Harmanpreet Kaur, discussing the team’s progress, remarked, “We improved day by day; we needed a game plan. The more we play, the better we will be. The left-right combination of Rodrigues and Mandhana played a big role for us.”

Smriti Mandhana, with a cautious start and impactful innings, led the batting charge, acknowledging the challenge of the second innings.

Looking ahead to the one-off Test starting on December 14 at the DY Patil Stadium, both India and England have a brief respite of three days. Smriti Mandhana concluded, “This win will be important going into the Test despite losing the series. Back-to-back games are a little tough on the body.”

The victory not only salvages pride for India but also sets a positive tone as they prepare for the upcoming Test match against England.
