Gus Atkinson Registered A Record At Lord’s

Lord’s Test: England’s cricket team’s bowling all-rounder Gus Atkinson has scored a century in Test at Lord’s. He also has 10 wickets in Tests at Lord’s. He has now become the sixth player to do so. Lord’s Ground is also called the Mecca of Cricket. That is why, along with scoring a century here, taking five wickets in an innings is a rare and special moment.

England’s fast bowler Gus Atkinson scored a century in the second match of the Test series being played at Lord’s against Sri Lanka and also took 10 wickets. In this match, Gus Atkinson has played an innings of 118 runs in just 115 balls. Gus Atkinson made his Test debut too, in July at the same Lord’s ground.

At that time, while playing against the West Indies in that match, Gus Atkinson also took a total of 12 wickets. But now, while playing against Sri Lanka, he has scored a century on the same ground. That is why he is the sixth player to score a century on this ground as well as to pick 10 wickets in Tests. Have a look at the players who did this before him.

Gubby Allen:  New Zealand: 

Gubby Allen was an England cricketer. This England player then became the first player to score a century as well as take 10 wickets in Tests at Lord’s Test Ground. He did this feat in the year 1931 against New Zealand by playing an innings of 122 runs on this ground. Then after this, in the year 1936, he took 10 wickets against India on this ground.

Lord’s Test Keith Miller:  Australia:

Keith Miller was an Australian player. Australian cricketer Keith Miller has also done this feat on the Lord’s Test grounds. Keith Miller played an inning of 109 runs here against England in the year 1953. After this, three years later, Miller dismissed 10 batsmen on the same ground during the England tour.

Lord’s Test Ian Botham: England:

Ian Botham’s name is taken among the great all-rounders of England. That is why this great all-rounder of England, Ian Botham, scored 108 runs while playing against Pakistan at Lord’s Test Ground in 1978. After this, in the same year, he dismissed 11 batsmen on the same ground in the Test against New Zealand.

Lord’s Test Stuart Broad: England:

Stuart Broad’s name also comes among the legendary fast bowlers of England. That’s why England’s legendary ten-bowler Stuart Broad scored the only century of his Test career at Lord’s. He did this feat in the year 2010 by scoring 169 runs against Pakistan at Lord’s Ground. After this, he took a total of 12 wickets in Tests while playing against the West Indies on the same ground in 2012. 

Lord’s Test Chris Woakes:  England:

Chris Woakes’ name is also taken among England’s star all-rounders. In 2018, while playing against India, Chris Woakes played an unbeaten innings of 137 runs on this ground in a Test match. Earlier in the year 2016, he took 11 wickets on the same ground in a Test against Pakistan. Because in a Test match, Chris Woakes has scored only one century and taken 10 wickets only once.
