In the GT vs CSK thriller at Narendra Modi Stadium, Chennai end the season with a big win of 83 runs and unfortunately at last in the points table for the first time in IPL history.

In a nail-biting IPL 2025 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), CSK’s mid-season signings Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, and Dewald Brevis produced fireworks, guiding the side to their season’s best score: 230/5. Gujarat Giants got back-to-back two defeats in Ahmedabad, with their opposition making totals more than 230.

17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, the youngest player to make his debut for CSK, provided the team with a searing start. Confronting GT’s left-arm seamer Arshad Khan in the second over, Mhatre went on a rampage with a string of 6, 6, 4, 4, 6, taking 28 runs from the over. He went for 34 off 17 balls eventually, but before that, he set the tone for CSK’s innings.

Urvil Patel Illuminates Ahmedabad with a Blistering 37

Local pace prospect Urvil Patel contributed to CSK’s momentum, hitting 37 off 19 balls. He went after GT’s pace frontline Mohammed Siraj with a six and hit successive fours off Gerald Coetzee, who had come on for Kagiso Rabada.

Urvil didn’t hesitate against spinners either, calmly facing R Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan. Finally, Sai Kishore got him out with a smart switch to over the wicket, but Urvil’s cameo had served its purpose.

Having set the platform, Devon Conway was the one who anchored the middle overs. Initially quiet, he accelerated in the middle overs, especially on Rashid Khan. He scored 21 runs off 10 balls off the leg-spinner before being bowled for a well-made 52 off 35.

He bashed 57 from 23 deliveries, with nine boundaries, to take CSK past a huge score. His innings saw CSK come home strong, despite Ravindra Jadeja playing a subdued role with 21 from 18 deliveries.
