Records broken in ENG vs PAK Test Series
2021 The last time Pakistan won a Test match against South Africa at home was three years ago in Rawalpindi. This 152-run win against England also ended Pakistan’s streak of not winning 11 Tests at home. This was their joint worst period, even between 1969 and 1975, Pakistan had not won any Test match at home for the same number of matches.
6 After six consecutive defeats, Pakistan has got a Test win in Multan. This is also the first win under the captaincy of Shan Masood, before this Pakistan had lost all six matches under his captaincy.
7 This was the seventh time in Test history that all 20 wickets were shared by two bowlers. In Multan, Noman Ali took 11 wickets while Sajid Khan took nine wickets. The last time this happened was in 1972 when Bob Massey and Dennis Lillee took all 20 wickets for Australia against England at Lord’s.
3 Noman and Sajid became only the third pair in Test history to achieve two seven-wicket hauls for the same team in the same Test match. Apart from them, this feat was achieved by Cam Mackay and Ray Lindwall in the Chennai Test against India in 1956. While in 1997, Glenn McGrath and Michael Kasprowicz also took a seven-wicket haul in the Oval Test against England.
38 years and 8 days, Noman was this old before coming into this Test, and now he has become the second oldest player to take eight wickets in an innings of a Test since 1914. The oldest record is in the name of Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath who took eight wickets in the second innings of the Harare Test against Zimbabwe at the age of 38 years and 232 days.
Noman’s bowling figure of 8/46 is now the second-best figure from Pakistan in the fourth innings. Abdul Qadir took nine wickets for 56 runs in the second innings of the Lahore Test against England, and it is still the best.
3 This is only the third time that a spinner has taken all 20 wickets in a Test for Pakistan. Earlier, such a feat was achieved in the Lahore Test against England in 1987, while for the first time, all 20 wickets were taken by a spinner in the Faisalabad Test against West Indies in 1980.
11 This is only the 11th time that the opposition team has been all out in the fourth innings in Test history without any bowling change. Noman and Sajid achieved this feat for Pakistan, while earlier in 2022, Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer did this for Bangladesh.
