DC vs LSG, IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will play against each other in the first match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Monday, March 24.
The match will be the fourth game of IPL 2025 and will take place at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Delhi Capitals are being led by a new captain, star all-rounder Axar, while the Lucknow Super Giants are captained by former DC skipper Rishabh Pant, who is the most expensive player in IPL history.
Both teams have some injury concerns. DC’s Harry Brook has pulled out of the tournament, and LSG’s Indian pace bowlers are dealing with injuries.
Looking at their head-to-head record, Lucknow Super Giants have won three matches against Delhi Capitals, while Delhi has won two, both in the last season.
Neither team performed well in the previous season and both missed out on the playoffs. This season, they are aiming for a better performance, but it could be harder for LSG, who appear to be one of the weakest teams on paper due to their injury problems.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel explained that the decision was made because of the dew factor in the second innings. He also confirmed that Faf du Plessis, Trishan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Mitchell Starc are the four overseas players in the playing XI.
“We are going to bowl first. It’s the dew factor, we don’t want to take any risk, that’s why we are bowling first. I have played with Pant before, he knows me and I know him. We know our tricks,” he said.

“I have played a lot for the Capitals, we have a well balanced side. There’s dew sometimes, not always. I have been with DC since three years, I have been with the leadership group. I need to work accordingly. Need to think like a leader. Faf du Plessis, Stubbs, Starc and Fraser McGurk are our four overseas.”
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant mentioned that they also wanted to bowl first.
“I wanted to bowl first but It’s a good wicket so we can bat well and put up a good score. I have played for DC all my life, so a lot of emotions there. Preparations have been well, everyone is in the right shape and in the right frame of mind. Markram, Marsh, Pooran and Miller are our four overseas players.”
