Samoan cricketer Darius Visser registered his name in the ICC Record books by smashing the most runs in an over in a T20 International match. In the ongoing Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A match on August 20, the wicketkeeper-batter accumulated 39 runs in a single over at the Garden Oval No. 2 in Apia. The 28-year-old scored 132 from 62 deliveries in the match.
It was in the 15th over of the Qualifier A match that Visser went for six colossal maximums and three no-balls from Vanuatu seamer Nalin Nipiko helped him achieve the historic feat.
Visser shattered the record held by former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh who hit six sixes, amassing 36 runs in a single over off England’s Stuart Broad in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and surpassed most recent efforts by Kieron Pollard (2021 – 36 runs), Nicholas Pooran (2024 – 36 runs) and Dipendra Singh Airee (2024 – 36 runs).
