The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially shared the list of central contracts for the 2024-25 season for the Senior Men’s team. This contract list covers the time from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

This time, there are some big changes, fresh entries, and shock exits all showing how Indian cricket is changing with time.

Iyer and Kishan Make a Return

After a lot of talk last year, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are back in the contract list. Iyer has been placed in Grade B, while Kishan gets a spot in Grade C. Both had missed out last time, reportedly because they didn’t play in the Ranji Trophy. The BCCI was not happy with that, but they’ve been brought back, possibly because of their strong performances in limited-overs formats.

No Change at the Top

The top four names in Grade A+ are still the same and include the most experienced stars:

  • Rohit Sharma
  • Virat Kohli
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Ravindra Jadeja

These players are the face of Indian cricket across all formats and continue to lead on and off the field.

Pant Gets a Well-Deserved Promotion

One of the most talked-about updates is the promotion of Rishabh Pant. The star wicketkeeper-batter has moved from Grade B to Grade A. After recovering from injury and making a strong comeback, this promotion shows BCCI’s trust in his future.

New Names Step into the Spotlight

The BCCI has given a chance to several young talents who impressed in domestic matches and the IPL. These fresh faces in Grade C include:

  • Sarfaraz Khan
  • Nitish Kumar Reddy
  • Abhishek Sharma
  • Akash Deep
  • Varun Chakaravarthy
  • Harshit Rana

Their inclusion means the board is looking at the future and rewarding those who’ve made their mark with consistent performances.

Ashwin Not Included

Veteran spinner R Ashwin has not been given a contract. This is likely because of his Test retirement during India’s tour of Australia. With his long and successful career, Ashwin has already left a big mark, but this signals that the team is moving toward younger options.

Big Names Miss Out

While many got promotions or new contracts, some known faces are missing. Players like:

  • Shardul Thakur
  • KS Bharat
  • Jitesh Sharma
  • Avesh Khan

they have not been given any contract this time. They were in Grade C earlier but now find themselves out of the list. This could be due to form, fitness, or selection choices made over the past year.
