The Asian Games 2023 Women’s T20I event is set to kick off on September 19 in Hangzhou, China, featuring eight teams, including India.

The Asian Games 2023 Women’s T20I event is scheduled to commence on September 19 and will run until September 25 in Hangzhou, China.

In this competition, eight women’s cricket teams will vie for the prestigious gold medal at the Asian Games 2023. The participating teams include Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have secured direct quarter-final berths based on their ICC Women’s T20I Rankings as of June 1, 2023.

The Asian Games 2023 Women’s T20I opener will see Indonesia facing off against Mongolia, followed by a clash between Hong Kong and Malaysia on September 19. All matches will take place at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian women’s cricket team, with Smriti Mandhana serving as the vice-captain for the Asiad 2023. The squad includes notable players like Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad among others. Five stand-by players have also been announced for the women’s cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2023.

Notably, the Indian women’s cricket team made their debut in a multi-sport event at the Commonwealth Games 2022, where they secured silver after losing to Australia in the final.

Cricket makes a comeback to the Asian Games after a nine-year hiatus, having been previously played at Asiad in Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014. Pakistan emerged victorious in both the women’s events during those years.
