The biggest win in terms of runs came when the two Asian heavyweights faced off each other. India were put in to bat in their first game of the Super Four by Pakistan. Half-centuries from openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill ensured a positive start for the ‘Men in Blue’. The match was continued on the reserve day after rain affected the match on the first day. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored centuries to reach a mammoth total of 356 runs.

The pitch showed signs of being a batting-friendly track when the Indian batters were batting. In the second innings, the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the Pakistani batters dismissing them for just 128 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star performer with the ball taking a five-wicket haul and helping India to register a 228 runs win over arch-rivals, Pakistan.

This was India’s 4th biggest victory in their ODI history in terms of runs. While for Pakistan this was their 2nd biggest loss in terms of runs. This was the biggest victory in terms of runs in the Pakistan vs India matches.

India defeats Sri Lanka by 10 wickets with 263 balls remaining

India saved up their best performance for the most important clash of the Asia Cup, the finals. India bowled out Sri Lanka for just 50 runs with Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets in an over. The right-arm fast bowler ended up with the figures of 6/21 and won the Man of the Match award in the finals.

Jasprit Bumrah started the Sri Lankan fall of wickets by taking a wicket on just the third ball of the match. But it was Siraj’s second over where the game was turned in India’s favour completely. He dismissed Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva in just one over. Hardik Pandya cleaned up the tail to finish the Sri Lankan batting innings for just 50 runs.

Shubman Gill, the highest run scorer of the Asia Cup 2023 walked in to bat with Ishan Kishan in the second innings. The opening duo scored the required 51 runs at a quick pace in just 6.1 overs (37 balls). India won the game by 10 wickets with 263 balls remaining.

This victory was India’s biggest victory in ODIs in terms of balls remaining. This was also the biggest margin of win in ODI finals in terms of balls remaining.
