Virat Kohli Has Been Struggling To Score Runs

It has to be noted that the Indian batter has been struggling to score runs in the ongoing tournament. Kohli had a standout season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League last month.

In IPL 2024, Kohli amassed 741 runs at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69 and was awarded the Orange Cap for the season, however, the star batter has failed miserably to replicate his batting performances in the T20 World Cup 2024. He scored just 75 runs in seven games at an average of 10.71 and a strike rate of 100 in the ongoing marquee tournament.

Despite Virat Kohli struggling to score throughout the tournament, Aiden Markram has urged his teammates to remain cautious of the Indian batter.

Further, Aiden Markram acknowledged the strength of the Indian batting line-up. He revealed his side’s strategic planning to encounter India’s batting effectively. He said:

“He’s a great player as we all know, but they’ve got their whole batting unit full of great players. Cricket is a game of ups and downs. You’re not always going to do well, especially as a batter. We just do our planning, do our preparation from a meeting’s point of view for planning towards those batters. Hopefully, on the day we can get that right.

Talking about Markram, the Proteas skipper has led the South African team to their first-ever final match in World Cups (white-ball format). South Africa will face India in the final showdown at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29th.
