Mitchell Starc has been cleared by health officials to join IPL 2026. The Delhi Capitals have been able to breathe a little easier by having Starc approved from Cricket Australia for the 2026 edition of the IPL. This should really help the Delhi Capitals by improving their bowling.
Starc was injured before the IPL began so he missed out on the first part of the season and has now been given, he now has been cleared to join the team soon. With this announcement, the Capitals were desperately in need of some help; they’ve had ups and downs over these first few weeks of play.
Mitchell Starc to Join Delhi Capitals Soon
Mitchell Starc will now journey to India to join the Delhi Capitals team, where he should be fit to play against the Rajasthan Royals on 1st May 2014.
In addition to being a player for the Delhi team last year, he played a total of 11 games, taking 14 wickets. Therefore, along with being an experienced player, he may also provide essential help to the Delhi team due to his experience and ability to take wickets.
Sidelined Due to Injury
During the domestic season in Australia, Starc suffered elbow and shoulder injuries. He played all five Tests in the Ashes series (4-1 win to Australia) and was named Player of the Series. After the Ashes, he continued playing at the Big Bash League (BBL), but due to his injuries, a rest period was required to rule him out for the start of the IPL season.
Relief for the Australian Team as Well
The IPL franchise has a new source of relief as Starc returns to full fitness. One more relief is there for the Australian national side as Pat Cummins is back and Josh Hazlewood is also back at full fitness.
The Australian Test side has an important number of Tests scheduled over the next little while, so ensuring all of their key fast bowlers, including Lungi Ngidi who will now step up as their lead overseas bowler, is critical to the success of the cricket team. In Starc’s absence, Lungi Ngidi was the lead overseas bowler for the Delhi Capitals, taking 7 wickets at an average of 6 per game and a strike rate of 13+.
The Delhi Capitals lost three out of their last four games after starting with two wins, so Starc’s return could be the pivotal point for them. Starc’s performance when he returns will be something to watch closely and see if he can help the Capitals get back on track.
