IPL 2025: Match 59 – PBKS vs RR: Punjab Kings (PBKS) face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 59 of IPL 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Sunday, May 18. Punjab Kings are aiming for a key win that would take them past Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Even without Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis, PBKS remain the stronger side with solid depth in both batting and bowling.
Toss Update: PBKS Opt to Bat First
In their last match against Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala, play was halted after 10.1 overs and the tournament paused for a week. Before the interruption, PBKS openers had dominated with a 122-run partnership.

PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first. He praised the team’s energy and said they’re staying positive.
PBKS are currently third on the points table with 7 wins from 11 games and are aiming for a top-two finish. RR, already out of playoff contention, are likely focusing on building for next season.
“We are going to bat first. The wicket looks fantastic, know how it plays here. The powerhouse has been our batting, so got to make the best use of it. Everyone is in high spirits. The mindset has been strong. Trying to make the best use of the sources. Kudos to the Army forces. Mitch Owen, Jansen, Omarzai are playing,” Iyer said.

Sanju Samson said he’s fully fit and ready to play. He’ll bat lower in the order to make room for Suryavanshi. Also, Kwena Maphaka replaces Jofra Archer in the playing XI.
“Wanted to bowl first after how the pitch behaved in the last game against RCB. Let’s see how it plays out today. I am okay, hundred percent fit. I would love to respect where he (Suryavanshi) is batting. He has played well for us. I will bat down the order, I come in for Nitish Rana. Maphaka comes in for Jofra Archer,” Samson said.
