The 49th match of IPL 2025 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) took place on April 30 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
PBKS won the toss and chose to bowl. Their bowlers started strong, reducing CSK to 48/3 in the powerplay. Dewald Brevis (32) and Sam Curran (88) helped CSK recover, but a sudden collapse, including a hat-trick by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 19th over, saw CSK go from 172/4 to 190 all out.
In reply, Prabhsimran Singh (54) and Priyansh Arya (23) gave PBKS a solid start. Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a captain’s knock of 72 runs. PBKS chased down the target in 19.4 overs, winning by 4 wickets and officially knocking CSK out of the playoffs race.
