Rajasthan Royals are having a tough time in IPL 2025 after a narrow 11-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The match, played on 24th April at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, made RR’s chances of making the playoffs even harder.
RCB’s First Home Win of IPL 2025 Against RR:
RCB won their first home match of IPL 2025 by beating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs. This was RCB’s 6th win of the season.
RCB’s Strong Start with the Bat:
RCB batted first and got off to a great start. Phil Salt scored 26 and Virat Kohli made 70, with the two adding 61 runs for the first wicket. Devdutt Padikkal also played well, scoring 50, and helped add another 95 runs with Kohli. Tim David (23) and Jitesh Sharma (20) made useful contributions, and RCB finished with 206/5.
RR’s Chase Falls Short:
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 49 and Vaibhav Suryavanshi added 16 for the first wicket. Nitish Rana (28) and Riyan Parag (22) tried to keep RR in the game, but wickets fell quickly. Dhruv Jurel’s 47 gave RR hope, but Josh Hazlewood bowled well at the end to help RCB win by 11 runs.
RR’s Slim Chances of Playoffs
RR are 8th on the points table with just 2 wins from 9 matches. Even if they win all 5 of their remaining games, they’ll need a good net run rate (NRR) and help from other teams to make the playoffs. One more loss will almost end their chances.
