RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first, thinking the pitch wouldn’t change much later. He also made one change, bringing in Romario Shepherd for Liam Livingstone in the playing XI.
Rajat Patidar said at the toss, “We’re going to bowl first. Wicket looks decent; it won’t change much. Batting second will give more clarity about the game and the wicket. We’re not looking at venues, just trying to play good cricket. Romario Shepherd comes in for Liam Livingston.”
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said they would have preferred to bowl first, as it was their first afternoon game of the season. However, they now need to adapt and focus on setting a strong total against RCB. He also confirmed that they are keeping the same playing XI for the home game.

Shreyas Iyer stated, “We also wanted to bowl. At the end of the day, you always have to adapt according to the situation. It’s important to give ourselves some time to see how the ball is moving. It’s the first afternoon game for us. Hopefully we get a good total on the board. The support we got, especially in the last game in this stadium, was outstanding. Same team.”
Punjab Kings have been strong in IPL 2025, winning five of their last seven games. Their bowlers, especially Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh, have been excellent, even defending low scores in close matches. Now, they aim to keep their winning run going.
