IU vs MS PSL 2025: Islamabad United maintained their great record in the PSL 2025 as they defeated Multan Sultans by 47 runs. Sahibzada Farhan’s dazzling half-century and Jason Holder’s match-winning all-round effort took IU to their third win in a row. The Sultans, yet to find their first win of the tournament, could not cope with the class cricket being produced by the United team.
Sultans Win the Toss and Decide to Bowl First

The match started with Multan Sultans winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Their bowlers began in good fashion, restricting the runs early on, particularly with Farhan and Andries Gous at the helm.
Following a sluggish start, Farhan—having scored a century in the last match against Peshawar Zalmi—also got into action. He tore into Michael Bracewell with a fierce onslaught, making 15 runs in both the fourth and final overs of the powerplay, as Islamabad United staged a comeback from a slow beginning.
Despite the early pressure, Farhan’s aggressive batting had put IU in a good spot for a challenging total on the board. Gous was also back thanks to David Willey, after a miss-swing that ended up traveling to midwicket, and Farhan’s 50 off 32 balls set them up nicely for a big finish.

The Sultans fought back through Usama Mir and Ubaid Shah, removing Farhan after he had struck a half-century.
Shadab Khan, Azam Khan, and Munro all fell victim to Chris Jordan and Ubaid Shah, but a superb partnership developed between Haider Ali and Jason Holder brought Islamabad home for an excellent finish.
Death Over Fireworks IU Past 200
As has been the case throughout the competition, the death bowling from the Sultans was wayward, allowing Haider Ali to pick up three boundaries from Chris Jordan and Holder to run against Ubaid Shah.
The two players got sixes and fours for a total of 64 runs in the last four overs, and IU surpassed 200 runs in a game for the second consecutive time as Holder finished with an invaluable 26* of 14 balls for IU to set a challenging target of 204/6.
Sultans’ Response: A Strong Start but a Quick Collapse
Pursuit of 205, Multan Sultans got off to a good start with Shai Hope getting caught early by Naseem Shah. Despite the initial breakthrough, Sultans moved quickly off the blocks.
The scorching knock of Usman Khan at 31 off 20 deliveries and a misguided second over of Naseem Shah helped Sultans make a good 56/1 at the end of the powerplay. Though Imad Wasim’s well-timed stumping of Khan arrested the flow of runs, Sultans were under threat.
United’s Firm Grip and Holder’s Overpowering

The second half of the innings then witnessed Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim applying pressure, conceding only 29 runs in the subsequent five overs. As the run rate for the chase rose, the pressure got to Mohammad Rizwan, who tried a desperate shot off Shadab Khan and was caught out.
Bracewell and Iftikhar Ahmed gave the Sultans some hope briefly through a 24-run stand, but Holder did not relent. Holder picked key wickets at regular intervals, dismissing Mir, Mohammad Hasnain, and Iftikhar—with the latter falling to a weak heave to long-off. Holder’s excellent bowling in the death overs had sealed the fate of the Sultans, as Multan Sultans could only score 155 runs and get bowled out.
Key Performers of the Match
Sahibzada Farhan: Farhan’s half-century of importance laid the groundwork for Islamabad United’s dominating total. His 50 from 32 balls kept the pressure on the Sultans.
Jason Holder: Holder’s all-round effort was the key to Islamabad United’s victory. He contributed with the bat and was the mastermind with the ball, taking vital wickets in the death overs and securing victory for his side. Shadab Khan: Shadab’s tight bowling in the middle overs helped United control the game and build pressure on the Sultans’ batsmen.IU vs
MS PSL 2025: Islamabad United Remain Unbeaten
The win against Multan Sultans makes Islamabad United keep their winning streak going in PSL 2025, and they are getting more and more powerful as the tournament goes on. Sultans, however, are still looking for their first victory, as their shaky bowling and middle-order failure again made them lose a match.
As IU continues to demonstrate its supremacy, the Sultans will have to pull themselves together soon and devise a strategy to end their losing run. With Holder and Farhan in top shape, Islamabad United appears to be one of the most difficult teams to beat in PSL 2025.
